Professor Dr. Dieter Mollenhauer awarded

At the meeting of the Phycology Section which took place on the Isle of Reichenau in 2010 Professor Dieter Mollenhauer received the Hans-Adolph von Stosch Medal. The Section honored his scientific merits and his activities to promote phycology in Germany.

Award of Hans-Adolf von Stosch-Medal to Professor Kies

On 29 August 2006 the Chairman of the Section Prof. Dr. Christian Wiencke, on behalf of the Phycology Section, awarded the medal to Prof. Dr. Ludwig Kies. Kies is honoured for his ‘active participation in the establishment of the Section’, as Wiencke explained in his speech. At the award celebrations Kies presented a lecture on "Die Algenvegetation der Tide-Elbe, gestern, heute und morgen" (Algal vegetation of the tidal Elbe yesterday, today and tomorrow, German pdf-file, 18 MB).

In memory of Prof. Dr. Hans-Adolf von Stosch (1908-1987) the Section honours scientists who have made a major contribution to the advancement and promotion of Phycology in German speaking regions by awarding the Hans Adolf von Stosch-Medal once about every four years. This year the Medal was awarded for the first time. The award ceremony took place during the 11^th Scientific Meeting of the Phycology Section ( German report, pdf-file, 20 KB) of the German Botanical Society ( Deutsche Botanische Gesellschaft) held in August on the off-shore island of Helgoland .
