new chairpersons were elected by the Section since the first chairperson, Prof. Dr. Christian Wiencke of the Alfred Wegener Institute, resigned from office. His position was taken up by Prof. Dr. Peter Kroth who had been holding the position of 2nd chairperson until then. Prof. Dr. Ulf Karsten was elected 2nd chairperson. New to the board is the assessor Dr. Regine Jahn. The election confirmed the Secretary (HD Dr. Burkhardt Becker) and the Treasurer (Dr. Johanna Knappe) in their offices.
