German Botanical Society (DBG)

Members of the Phycology Section conduct scientific research on algae and investigate, amongst other topics, taxonomic, ecological, physiological and molecular issues concerning micro- and macroalgae.
Our main goals are to promote research on algae, to support young scientists and to facilitate scientific discussions on algae, a fascinating group of organisms.
Makroalge These web pages will introduce you to the Phycology Section and provide general information on algae and current algal research of particular interest as for example about the Alga of the Year
Microalge The Phycology Section ("Sektion Phykologie") is affiliated with the German Botanical Society (Deutsche Botanische Gesellschaft (DBG, e.V.). It was founded in 1984 to bring together phycologists from Germany and neighbouring countries. Please contact our Chairpersons if you have any questions about the Section.
The Section is one of the founding members of the Federation of European Phycological Societies (FEPS)
